Our little one plays in a summer orchestra.  One of the highlights is they get to do play the national anthem on the field at one of the St. Paul Saints games.


Of course, one of the more surreal parts about the game itself was it was "David Hasselhoff" day - complete with Mr. Knight Rider posters, t-shirts, and other paraphernalia.  Little one asked who is he, and was told it was a German thing.  She shrugged and continued on.

The event, however, almost did not happen.  She watched in horror as a pretty good sized rainstorm started as they drove over.  This, of course, would have prevented any playing of expensive wooden instruments on the field.  Visions of 'wasted' practicing were clearly on her mind.

As they reached the field, the sky cleared out and everything went according to plan.  Star Spangled Banner was performed, baseball treats were consumed, and even a foul ball tossed up and taken home!  She had a great time - though I suspect it was more to do with all of the activities surrounding the event than the game itself.

Later that week she asked, "Dad, you are German.  Do you like David Hasselhoff?".  Sorry kiddo - I'm not that German. (grin)

Might need to hit another game this summer.  Who knew...
