My Bride tells me there was a problem with the toilet while I was in DC. This is when we find out the valve that should shut off the water to the toilet does not shut off. She really surprised me with a solid bit of Scotty style engineering - she figured out where the switch was and whipped together a hand crafted loop and lever until I could get home to fix it. (To be fair, she would have been more than happy to let a plumber do it, but...)
Impressive!
I picked up a repair kit and swapped out the busted parts. Even had teflon tape from when I installed a new sink in the kitchen, so we don't have any leaks.
